As we close out the summer season, PPAN is excited to announce new wins for organic turf transitions at the
municipal level. The cities of Golden and Lakewood are following Longmont’s lead in launching organic land management demonstration sites at several municipal city parks. These transitions away from the use of synthetic chemicals and fertilizers have been supported by PPAN and our local volunteers, and our partners at Beyond Pesticides and Osborne Organics, with generous funding from Natural Grocers.
It’s inspiring to see Colorado cities leading the way in organic turf management, and we’re confident that other communities will want to follow their example. This program is an excellent model for how local governments and communities can work together to create safe havens for pollinators.
